ScreenerHero is designed to collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

2. Data We Collect

Currently, ScreenerHero does not require an account. We collect:

  • Usage data — anonymous page views and interaction events, used solely to understand how features are used and improve the product. No personal identifiers are stored.
  • Preferences stored locally — screener filters, watchlists, and UI preferences are stored in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you explicitly sync them.
  • Server logs — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referrer) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes only.

3. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies required for the Service to function (e.g., session state, theme preference). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies that identify you personally.

4. How We Use Your Data

Data collected is used exclusively to:

  • Operate and improve the Service
  • Detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service is hosted on cloud infrastructure providers. These providers may process request metadata (IP addresses, timestamps) as part of standard operations. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of these providers. Their use is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. Data Retention

Anonymous usage data is retained for up to 12 months. Server logs are purged after 30 days. Local storage data remains on your device until you clear it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal personal data and most data is anonymous, requests can be directed to us via the contact information on the About page.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScreenerHero accepts no liability for any damages arising from unauthorized access to data transmitted through or stored on the Service, provided that we have taken reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. Use of the Service is at your own risk.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
