Applying one universal threshold across sectors: A 0.6 quick ratio is a red flag for a software company and unremarkable for a grocery retailer. Always check the ratio against sector norms before treating it as a warning sign.

Ignoring the trend: A current ratio of 1.3 today means little without knowing whether it was 2.0 a year ago (deteriorating — worth investigating why) or 0.9 a year ago (improving). A single-period snapshot misses the direction of travel.
